Apple Tablet / iSlate to Use Foxconn Screens

Apple Tablet / iSlateTwo separate reports by trade publications suggest that Apple is prepping to mass manufacture its tablet rumored to ship late March 2010. Apple is securing components for the upcoming apple tablet / iSlate. Rumors suggest, Apple may make the announcement to release the apple tablet / iSlate at an event on January 26th. According to digitimes one of the components for the apple tablet / iSlate will come from Foxcomm. Foxcomm will be the lead supplier for the 10 inch touch screen panels that apple intends to use for tablet. Also another foxcomm company g-tech is said to be strength testing the screens. Apple is seeking solutions to strengthen the glass of the 10-inch panel for the device and was forced to delay the launch until first-quarter 2010, the sources noted. Oppenheimer analyst Yair Reiner predicted a $1,000 Apple tablet arriving March 2010, scheduling manufacturing ramp up for February.
MacRumors notes Taiwan’s Economic Daily News naming Cheng Uei Precision Industries as receiving orders for ‘connectors’ for the device, though these aren’t expected to begin shipping until Q3 2010. While Taiwan-based optical film maker Wah Hong Industrial has also reportedly landed component orders.

The public opinion on the upcoming device is mixed – some people see it as a potential hit, some believe it’s doomed to failure.
