iPod Nano Gets a Face Lift
If you’ve heard it once you’ve heard it twice. The new iPod Nano now has a video recorder and movie player. The publicity surrounding the launch of the fifth-generation iPod Nano was geared towards the video capabilities. This device that has started a revolution in the way we listen to music, has transformed from a mere music player to a multi- tasking gadget that is more user friendly and functionalities.

Fifth Genreation iPod Nano
The new iPod Nano Allow the user to record video at a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels at 30 frames / second with AAC audio. Apple reports the Nano can hold up to eight to 16 hours of video and video playback time is five hours. The video recording capabilities are pretty impressive for such a small gadget, although it really can’t stack up the standard video camera people use to shoot higher quality videos. People usually carry their music payers were ever they go, now there is no need to bring along a video camera. The Nano is best left to shoot casual videos and taking random shots of everyday fun.
The iPod Nano has 15 special effects such as sepia, black and white, film grain, cyborg, motion blur, light tunnel, and twirl. The files are easily transferable to a computer or another device making it very easy to share or to post on the net. The Nano is rapidly becoming a very versatile gadget. It is traditionally used as a music player but recently it has been stretched to accommodate other functionalities. A device that has multi-tasking capabilities is nothing new. However when it has an Apple badge on it we can only expect the best.
Apple has also added an FM radio, pedometer, and voice recorder. However leave it to Apple to go one step further. The iPod Nano has nice features as it displays the name of the artist and song playing on the radio. It also allows the users to pause the radio and the Nano caching in its memory the songs. When you continue playing you can listen to the live broadcast right away or rewind to as far back as 15 minutes.
For the real music lovers Apple has added a feature that allows the users to tag an unfamiliar song on the radio. When you synch the iPod with iTunes, it creates a list of your tagged songs so that you may purchase them later.
Apple doesn’t stop there however. The new Nano has a pedometer, which allows users to count the steps when they walk or run and compute how much calories they burned. For the people who are really into fitness, Apple has added a feature that allows the Nano to be synched with Nike shoes and iPod sports kit. This allows the users to keep track of time, distance, pace, calories burned, and other info on your workout.
The iPod Nano is available in 8GB and 16GB like the earlier models. The fifth generation Nano has a wider LCD screen display at 2.2 inches, and a slightly higher resolution at 240 x 376 pixels per inch. It also now comes with an anodized aluminum finish, which makes it look shinier and brighter.
How iPod Killed the Cd
Tech innovations that arrive over the last decade have changed the way we live. Everything, it seems, has gone digital. Cell phones, home entertainment centers, cars and music players are just a few of the things that have transformed into specialized mini-computers. The digital age has gone through drastic changes. The internet popped and then grew faster than ever, and has brought millions of people just a click away from each other. Along with the digital age a device has come around and changed the way we listen to music. Before the ipod came along we had to listen to music on a bulky disc-man or walkman. Now you can enjoy thousands of songs on a device that is a tenth of the size of a discman. The ipod has revolutionized the way we listen to music. With practically limitless sources to get music the record companies are struggling to keep the profit margins up. Because of the ipod fewer and fewer records are being sold. The record companies have to find new and creative ways to promote there products. We now live in a culture where we can get free music if you choose to go down that path. Because of the ipod the record companies have come to a crossroad, join the ipod age and adapt to the changing times or, be stubborn and fall like the rest of the companies that have collapsed from the lack of innovation.
Apple 4th Generation iPod
Apple has released a 4th generation ipod, which is slimmer and has improved battery life. Apple is offering two different models of the ipod which can hold more songs for around the same price as current models in the market. The new 20gb ipod will sell for $299, while the 40gb models will sell fro $399.
The new ipods are available at apple retail stores, online web site, and through resellers. The new ipods (4th generation) offers a 12 hour battery life, as appose to the current ipods that only have an 8 hour battery life. The improved battery life is due to better power management features. The click wheel is similar to the I pod mini apple released in January. Apple has also added some software upgrades to the new 4th generation ipods. For example you can now listen to audiobooks faster or slower, what ever suits your needs.
Also new to the ipod is the ability to create and edit more than one playlist from the ipod. “Apple said that the company has no current plans for a 60GB iPod. Toshiba, which supplies the drives used in the iPod, said in June that a 60GB drive was in the works. A Toshiba executive was quoted in overseas press reports as saying Apple was a customer, though Toshiba executives in the United States would not comment.” (CNet)
Apple has dominated in the market for mp3 players. The ipod has accounted for 54% of all mps player sales in the United States. Competitors such as Sony and Dell have introduced similar mp3 devices but, have a long way to go before they start chipping away at the 54% market share.
